We believe in supporting the sector we work with as much as we can, and one of the ways we do this is by providing as many freely available products and services as possible.
The library of excellent things
The internet is stuffed full of amazing content that people in local public services can be making use of – but there’s so much of it!
So, we maintain our library of excellent things to highlight the really good stuff. We provide links to the originals, and also – where we can – keep a PDF archive just in case they disappear one day.
What’s more, everything is tagged to make it easier to find content related to what you need, and it’s all tied together through the dimensions from our digital quality model, too!
Digital quality model
We developed the digital quality model to provide an open benchmark for digital – technology, data, and online experience – for local public service organisations. Digital maturity models abound, but they are often locked behind paywalls, or you have to employ a certain consultancy to use them.
Ours is open, for anybody to use, by being published under an open creative commons license. This means that if you want to find out more about it, and maybe even use it to assess your own or other organisations, you can. And we will do what we can to help you!
Free online training
We see learning and development as key to the success of digitally-enabled change, and training needs to be provided to everyone in organisations – digital specialists, leaders and managers, and indeed anyone involved in any way in digital projects.
That’s why we provide regular free online learning sessions that anyone involved in local public services can join. Not everyone can afford to pay for bespoke training, so we really hope these sessions help people out.
As well as running the live sessions, we also share the recordings, so it’s worth checking out our past sessions too!

LocalGov.blog
We love blogging – Dave’s been doing it since 2004 – and want to encourage as many local public service folk and organisations to get into it as possible!
One issue that kept cropping up is where to blog – particularly if you have no budget but don’t want your content covered in adverts.
So, we created LocalGov.blog – a free blog hosting service for anyone or any organisation that aligns with our mission.
If you’d like a blog, just get in touch!
Our insights
As well as supporting others to blog – and blogging as ourselves too – we maintain our own blog here on the Localise site, called Insights.
It’s a mixture of opinion pieces, advisory articles, ideas, experiences, case studies, guides and resources, and pretty much anything else that crops up that we think might be useful to share!
